DIVISION OF STD, HIV, HEPATITIS, & TUBERCULOSIS

​​​The Bureau for Public Health's Division of STD, Hepatitis, and Tuberculosis (DSHHT) provides surveillance, intervention, testing, education and care to prevent and control the spread of disease for the people in West Virginia. The division aims to:

  • Monitor local and statewide outbreaks.
  • Improve public understanding of STD, HIV, Hepatitis, and TB.
  • Prevent or reduce behaviors that transmit disease.
  • Strengthen systems for referral to appropriate prevention and treatment services.
  • Ensure that disease surveillance is a quality, secure system.
  • Ensure that all people at risk for infection know their status.
  • Ensure that those who are not infected with remain uninfected.
  • Ensure that those infected ​have access to the most effective therapies possible.
  • Ensure a quality professional education program that includes the most current disease information.
